Board Parlor is a board game directory and a set of browser games you can play alone, against the computer or with friends. This page explains what we store and why. The short version: we keep what's needed to run your account and games, we don't sell anything, and there are no ads or ad trackers.

Without an account

You can browse the directory and play every game as a guest. Game settings, tutorial progress and the games you finish are kept in your browser (localStorage), not on our server. If you play online with a friend, the game room (its moves and any chat messages) is stored on our server and deleted after a day or two without activity.

With an account

• Account: your username, a securely hashed password (we can't read it), and your email address only if you give one.
• Games: the games you finish (which game, the result, vs computer or people, when and how long), used for your stats, levels and XP.
• Friends: your friends, friend requests and game invitations, and who invited you (if you signed up with a friend's link).
• Presence: when you were last on the site and which game you're playing, shown to your friends.
• Profile looks you pick, and in the directory any comments and favourites you add.

Who can see what: your username, level and profile looks are visible to everyone. Your stats are visible to you and your friends. Your email is never shown to anyone.

Cookies

We only use cookies needed for the site to work: a session cookie, a security (CSRF) cookie, and a "stay signed in" cookie when you're signed in. No advertising or analytics cookies.

Server logs

Like most websites, our server keeps short-lived logs (IP address, the page asked for, time, browser) to keep the site secure and working. They are not used to build profiles of anyone.

Where it's stored

On our server in an Amazon Web Services data centre, with daily backups kept for two weeks. We don't share your data with anyone, except when the law requires it.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from the Account page. That removes your account, stats, friends, invitations, XP, looks and any feedback you sent us straight away (backups roll over within two weeks). Anything you posted in the forum stays, with your name taken off it. Removing it would tear holes in other people's conversations. Guest data lives in your browser: clearing the site's data removes it.

Children

Board Parlor is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has made an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
