Reversi

Two players, Dark and Light, take turns placing discs on an 8 × 8 board. Dark goes first. The game starts with two discs of each colour in the middle.

Your turn

Place a disc so that one or more straight lines of your opponent's discs sit between your new disc and another of yours, with no gaps. Lines can run across, up and down, or diagonally. Every disc in those lines flips to your colour.

You must flip at least one disc. The small dots show where you can play. If you have no such move, you pass and your opponent plays again.

The end

The game ends when neither player can move, usually because the board is full. Whoever has more discs wins. Equal counts are a draw.

Tips

• Corners can never be flipped. They are the best squares on the board.
• Avoid the squares right next to an empty corner: they often hand it to your opponent.
• Flipping lots of discs early is rarely good. Keeping more choices of move than your opponent matters more.

The last disc played has a small red mark. Undo and the other options are in the ⋯ menu.
